Fatima Sheikh was a strong advocate for the educational rights of girls, and strongly believed in the pursuit of knowledge for both men and women. Even in the face of social pressures against her views, she set up India’s first school for girls in Bombay with her colleague and mentor Savitribai Phule.

Finally tonight, everyone had the chance to see just how talented Fatima truly was. She had been working hard to start a business and tonight it all paid off! Despite the odds stacked against her, Fatima triumphed and she celebrated her long history of advocating for girls’ education with a successful event.
