Despite having no say in the matter, there was unrest and displeasure amongst the students of St. Xavier University when the administration refused to acknowledge the newly elected student representatives. Discontent grew among the student body and soon, a protest emerged determined to prove the importance of their newly earned democracy. As the protest gained momentum, a well-known journalist made a comment biased against the student body. Under pressure, the administration gave an official statement and finally acknowledged the democratically elected student representatives. Although the conflict had gained much attention, many felt that the event could have been avoided had the administration acted diplomatically in the first place.
